I received this email from Heidi. I don't know how to be a member of wordpress either...I did it too long ago to remember. I'll have to research it.

"I am not an elite member of word press for posting messages so I just had to send regular old email. You left out a few key elements in the 25. 26. Love to act like the detectives in those books I read. (i.e going through garbage and staking out houses. 27. aka "Ruth the Tooth" 28. Am a magnet for very strange vagabonds of all species. You are great Ruth!! Let's skype again sometime. Heidi"

Isn't it just not fair that YOU got the ticket and not Megan!! Ouch, that's a steep one. Having never driven the Alcan and not imagining I'll ever have a reason to, it remains one un-notch on my belt. But I'm glad to work on my # of trips to Hawaii notch!

Yea! I'm so glad you entered another blog. I didn't know about the speeding ticket. That hurts! I hope Carol doesn't get caught in the same trap. I wouldn't mind driving it again either if I had a lot of time and a bunch of books on CD!

I clocked in here through Catherine's blog. Too funny! I don't blame you concerning your future plans with a chain. I would do the same. Or, maybe I would drag in onto the lawn at city hall. Hmmmm the possibilities are endless.

Hi Ruth, I was surprised to hear about the flooding. I heard about that during the reception last night. I was even more surprised to read your blog and hear how extensive it was. Wow!!! I'll be sending your webspace address to my family so they can read about it. Thanks,

We had read about the Brayton fire, but it was minimized in the paper. We had no idea of the flooding in the temple. What a terrible thing! It has to be devastating to all of you who work there and love it. I hope everything can be repaired and in working order again soon.

How is your health Ruth? I haven't heard anything since you were so ill some time back.

Now that I have your website address, I can keep up to date.

Baby Kate sounds adorable. I know the feeling of the first grandchild. Wait till you are waiting for three great grand daughter's in a row. thats what we are doing. I'm sure you and Orie will go through that many times with your good size family.
I get up so early, it is a good time to answer my lmail.
I'm so happy you are feeling better, and I shall do better on my fiber.
Love Teri and John my cute farmer.

I think the month of January has been REALLY long. I'm sure it seems even longer to you. I'm hoping that the rest of the year goes a little smoother than it started out. When I think about how close you came to not making it and how Rachel could have lost her arm in her accident, I feel personally very grateful to our loving Heavenly Father and his blessings of healing. We love you so much and can't wait for you to re-join us in the Young Womens. I'll try to be better with my fiber as well.

Love you, Catherine

Thank heavens you are better. I'm sorry I woke Orie up, I was just over anxious about your health.
You are in our prayers, as are all our friends, but you are special.
As I told Orie, we are so blessed with good health. I work on my fiber each day. You just made me think of it more.
I will go ahead and see what all the children have to say now. I think I'm soing this right.
Love to all of you Teri and John

It's been a great blessing to have a cabin, especially in such a beautiful and remote location. It has given us the opportunity to be together, learn about nature, and enjoy many wonderful recreations. Thinking back, I realize the benefits of allowing growing kids to play in the water and woods, and to appreciate the seasons and wildlife. Being together with few distractions also fostered greater communication and friendship.

As I sit here in a concrete block in a city of 700,000 in Poland, with construction outside the window, and hammers pounding and drills whining on the floors above, I am even more aware of how precious it is to be able to escape from congestion, noise and air pollution. Yet thankfully, I know I can be happy whereever I am, and that, in part, brings me the greatest peace.

Thanks Mom and Dad--it's been a great investment!

I have known that Hyrum City had demolished their main street buildings as well as the "Lincoln Grade School" which was located on the town square along main street. I was visiting at the time there was a public tour before the demolition. It was a trip back in time for me to see the inside of the old school building where I was a student until I was in the 7th grade. Mom & Dad went to grade school there also & had the same principal & several teachers as I had. It was a 3 story, red brick building with wide flights of stairs leading from floor to floor. The lst & 2nd grade classrooms were in the basement level. The 7th & 8th grade class rooms were on the 3rd level. I remember the fire drills & how all the children had to rush down the flights of stairs to get out of the building. Those are the years when I started to have dreams that I could fly down steps.

I stongly feel that the Hyrum City officials made a big mistake by demolishing their old buildings rather than restoring them, because Hyrum is a pioneer town! They demolished Hyrum's historical district which could have been on the National Historical Register of buildings 100 years old or older. Hyrum main street is lined with 100 year old homes, a church at one end with the cemetary at the opposite end.

How fitting it would have been to see the old store fronts on main street restored & preserved for the future generations to visit. Technological generations who are becoming far removed from the "Old Days" when life's pace was simple & much slower. I can imagine the old Lincoln Grade School being turned into the town library with rooms for books, computers & other services. Also, I can imagine the old stores along Main Street housing additional city offices, museum relics & artifacts, etc. These things will only exist in my imagination now!

Ruth,

Hey, this is a great idea. What a modern way to keep in touch.

We enjoyed the photos from Hawaii. Spencer was MIA. Where was he?

I agree with you on the grandchildren. We have one and she is the best of the best. If we had known grandchildren were so much fun we would not have wasted so much time on our children :-)

Terri continues to garden. I will post the latest pictures from the garden soon. Missionaries are doing fine.

Your family certainly is looks like they are all doing great. It is so wonderful to see the success of the kids our children grew up with.

Natalie and Dylan are in Phoenix now. He is in Physician's assistant school for 3 years. He just graduated from Univ. of Maryland a week ago.

Terri has lost 30 pounds since Dec. and I have lost 20 in that time. We joine a nice club and we have been diligent at working out. Actually, I only play racquetball because I hate to workout, but it is working for me.

Terri taught seminary last year and loved it. I am still in the HP group leadership.

What news of the Orien's?

BTW, I still need to get you the contact info of the news broadcaster here in Chicago of a guy name Orien Samuelson. He is on AM radio and does the agriculture reports.

We love you guys.

Hey, this is a great idea. What a modern way to keep in touch.

We enjoyed the photos from Hawaii. Spencer was MIA. Where was he?

I agree with you on the grandchildren. We have one and she is the best of the best. If we had known grandchildren were so much fun we would not have wasted so much time on our children

Terri continues to garden. I will post the latest pictures from the garden soon. Missionaries are doing fine.

Your family certainly is looks like they are all doing great. It is so wonderful to see the success of the kids our children grew up with.

Natalie and Dylan are in Phoenix now. He is in Physician’s assistant school for 3 years. He just graduated from Univ. of Maryland a week ago.

Terri has lost 30 pounds since Dec. and I have lost 20 in that time. We joine a nice club and we have been diligent at working out. Actually, I only play racquetball because I hate to workout, but it is working for me.
